Arcadia is a non-profit international NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland, with 238 members across seven continents. Our mission is to make university-level education accessible to all, free from financial, social, geographical, or political barriers. Through the work of over 70 international researchers, we provide high-quality academic content across diverse disciplines. We also promote global appreciation for art by addressing contemporary issues through exhibitions and highlighting major art events worldwide. We believe in the transformative power of education and art to build a more enlightened world. Key Responsibilities
Website Design & Page Creation
Create and update website pages using Wix, ensuring they are visually consistent, responsive, and aligned with Arcadia’s brand guidelines.
Implement layouts, visual elements, and interactions that enhance usability and accessibility across devices.
Wix Customization & Enhancements
Customize website components using Wix tools and basic coding (e.g. Velo by Wix, HTML, CSS) under guidance from senior team members.
Apply predefined design patterns and components to maintain consistency across the site.
Content Updates & Maintenance
Regularly update content, images, and layout elements in coordination with the content team.
Perform routine site maintenance to ensure pages function correctly and display properly.
Troubleshooting & Support
Identify and resolve basic technical or layout issues within the Wix platform.
Escalate more complex issues to senior designers or the Web Design Manager when needed.
Skills and Competencies Required
Web Design Fundamentals
Solid understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and visual hierarchy.
Ability to translate content and requirements into clean, user-friendly page layouts.
Wix Platform Proficiency
Hands-on experience using Wix for website creation and editing.
Good familiarity with Velo by Wix and website customization concepts.
Technical Foundation
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, sufficient to implement simple customizations and adjustments within Wix.
Ability to follow technical instructions and design standards provided by senior team members.
Collaboration, Communication & Delivery Expectations
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders while maintaining responsiveness, consistency, quality of delivery, and timely completion of assigned work.
Strong awareness of accessibility standards, proactive issue resolution, and the ability to appropriately escalate risks or operational concerns when necessary.
Openness to feedback and willingness to learn and improve.
Qualifications
Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience using Wix for website design and content management.Candidates without Wix experience should have at least 2–3 years of experience in a comparable web design role and demonstrate the ability to learn Wix quickly.
Demonstrated understanding of web design best practices, including responsive design and usability.
Basic knowledge of Velo by Wix will be welcome, good working knowledge in HTML, CSS is a plus.
In-depth experience in website performance optimization, encompassing aspects such as load speed, SEO fundamentals, and ensuring full responsiveness across devices.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior leadership, employees, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
Comfortable with part-time commitment, contributing 8–10 hours (20%) per week, with availability for remote work, selecting your own working hours
