About the Position


Arcadia is seeking a hands-on Web Designer to join our Web Development and Design team and contribute to the day-to-day creation, maintenance, and improvement of our digital presence. This is an execution-focused role, ideal for a designer who enjoys building, refining, and maintaining websites within the Wix ecosystem.


As a Web Designer at Arcadia, you will work primarily with Wix Editor / Studio and related tools to create visually engaging, user-friendly, and responsive web pages. You will collaborate closely with the content team to ensure that design and functionality support Arcadia’s mission of providing free, accessible academic content to a global audience.


Reporting to the Web & Digital Platform Manager, you will receive guidance and direction on priorities, while remaining responsible for implementing design updates, maintaining site quality, and resolving day-to-day issues. This role offers an opportunity to strengthen your technical and design skills while contributing to a meaningful, mission-driven organization.

Qualifications


  • Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience using Wix for website design and content management.Candidates without Wix experience should have at least 2–3 years of experience in a comparable web design role and demonstrate the ability to learn Wix quickly.

  • Demonstrated understanding of web design best practices, including responsive design and usability.

  • Basic knowledge of Velo by Wix will be welcome, good working knowledge in HTML, CSS is a plus. 

  • In-depth experience in website performance optimization, encompassing aspects such as load speed, SEO fundamentals, and ensuring full responsiveness across devices. 

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior leadership, employees, volunteers, and external stakeholders.

  • Comfortable with part-time commitment, contributing 8–10 hours (20%) per week, with availability for remote work, selecting your own working hours
