Gina Darwin-Gitonga, is a British-Kenyan researcher and creative. Born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1997, she currently resides in Palermo, Sicily.


Graduating in 2020 with an undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway University of London, Gina is currently working as a freelance Production Manager for a culture and music organisation in Palermo and London and has previously worked as exhibition and planning consultant in the heritage sector in London and Greater London.


Her research centres Blackness, focusing on the power dynamics of museums and galleries in exhibiting Black and African art and artefacts in the West. As a consultant, she focuses on curation, challenging status quo and adopting a Black Feminist and Intersectional approach towards questions on, representation, access, and exclusion/exclusivity. Gina specialises in contemporary Performance and Visual Arts, and her academic research has featured in research programmes and panels for both the Tate Modern and National Trust, England.


In her spare time, she takes an active interest in wine and food culture, researching the art of sommelier, and visiting culinary and wine events. She also enjoys watching theatre and visiting contemporary art galleries and musical events.
