Editor

Elisabetta Cuccaro was born in Milan, Italy, in 1992. She began cultivating her long-standing interest in the visual arts by attending the School of Painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in 2015. Following this experience, she decided to broaden her personal and artistic horizons by moving to Switzerland, where she attended a Master’s program in Contemporary Arts Practice at the Hochschule der Künste Bern and encountered a multiplicity of cultures and languages. It was during her formative years that a strong understanding of the arts as a unique form of knowledge production and civic participation began to grow, bringing her to seek its advancement in our society in the form of collaborative endeavors, combined with a keen interest in the theoretical and critical significance of contemporary art.

Her constant commitment to developing both the art field and its discourse led her to found multiple artistic collectives and participate in the programming and research of other artistic platforms. Her experience as a curator let her explore an open mode to experience and produce art while reflecting on art's role in society. In 2018, she curated the artist-run initiative SuperEgo’s exhibition series The Trilogy, which investigated different facets of the feminine through the works of 10 contemporary women artists.
