Born in Seville, Spain, in 1989 Alba Vilchez has been captivated by biology and research
from a young age. This passion for the natural sciences inspired her to pursue a Bachelor’s
degree in Biotechnology at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Seville, where she
developed a solid foundation in scientific principles and methodologies.
Upon completing her undergraduate studies, Alba sought to broaden her horizons and gain
practical experience in a research environment. This desire led her to a neuroscience
research laboratory in Jouy-en-Josas, Paris, where she immersed herself in cutting-edge
scientific investigations while experiencing life in a new country.
Motivated by her growing interest in neuroscience, she continued her academic journey by
pursuing a Master’s degree and subsequently a PhD at the University of Barcelona. Since
2021, she has been living in Switzerland, where she works as a postdoctoral researcher
investigating the mechanisms of brain aging. Alba’s dedication to her field has enabled her
to live in three different countries, communicate in multiple languages, and engage with
diverse cultures.
Throughout her career, Alba has published various research articles in international scientific
journals and presented her findings at numerous conferences, highlighting her commitment
to advancing knowledge in her field. Additionally, she has a strong enthusiasm for science
communication and outreach, believing in the importance of making scientific knowledge
accessible to the broader public. Alba's journey is a testament to her passion for science and
