Juhani Tamminen

Editor

Juhani Tamminen (1981) is a seasoned writer, editor, translator, and subtitler with a long experience in the field. With a background in human-computer interaction, social media, and game studies at the University of Tampere, Finland, he has developed a unique perspective on the intersection of technology, information, and society.

As an advocate for freedom of information in the digital age, Juhani is committed to exploring the humane, social, and societal implications of both emerging and existing technologies like AI and games. This curiosity drives his work as a writer and editor, seeking out innovative stories that challenge
conventional wisdom and spark meaningful conversations.

Beyond technology’s impact on society, Juhani is intrigued and slightly worried about the effects of AI on creativity. Particularly in the field of linguistics and translation, he sees a clear and present danger of machine-generated content being used to quickly and cheaply produce language that is only barely adequate. On the other hand, he sees that the creative use of AI is not to be ousted entirely, because that particular windmill is not going to be defeated.

A self-proclaimed contrarian, Juhani delights in questioning the status quo and redefining what it means to live a fulfilling life beyond the confines of economic productivity. By exploring these themes through writing and editing work, he aims to inspire others to rethink their assumptions about value, purpose, and happiness.
