Associate Researcher
Seda Bahar Pancaroğlu began her academic journey with a Bachelor’s Degree in English
Language and Literature from Ege University, Turkey, in 2010. Her passion for literature and
languages led her to further her studies at Università di Bologna, Italy, where she deepened her
understanding of European literary cultures. This experience not only enhanced her linguistic
competencies in Italian and French but also equipped her with the skills necessary to conduct
comparative research. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature at
Ankara University, Turkey, completing her studies in 2020.
Currently, she is a PhD candidate in English Literature and Cultural Studies at Çankaya
University, Turkey. Her doctoral research, “Space and Memory: Remembering Cyprus in
Contemporary British Fiction,” investigates the intersections of memory and space in
Anglophone literature, with a particular focus on narratives concerning Cyprus’s partition.
Through her work, she aims to contribute to broader discussions on literature, memory, and
ecology in post-conflict societies.
Throughout her academic career, Bahar has actively participated in the academic community,
presenting her research at international conferences and contributing chapters to various edited
volumes. With over a decade of experience as a lecturer in higher education, she has taught
courses in English for Academic Purposes and English Literature. Her extensive teaching
experience has allowed her to mentor students and foster a deep appreciation for literature and
language.
Now residing in Utrecht, Bahar is actively working to contribute to the local academic
community and exploring new research opportunities in the Netherlands.
Driven by a firm belief in the potential of literature as a form of activism, Bahar views literature
as a powerful tool for fostering empathy and driving social change. Her work is committed to
exploring how literature can drive meaningful change and contribute to a more inclusive and
