Caroline Valadares Bustamante
Legal Consultant
Caroline Valadares Bustamante is an accomplished legal professional with a solid
background in international law, a passion for technology, and a commitment to
sustainability. Born in Brazil, on January 19, 1986, she graduated in law from UFRJ and
specialized in labor law from IBMEC. Moving in 2019 to the Netherlands, Caroline pursued
a master’s degree in Public International Law at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, where she
gained a comprehensive understanding of international human rights, investment law, and
environmental law.
During her career, Caroline has worked both as a lawyer in a law firm and as a Legal
Consultant. In her role as a lawyer, she handled a wide range of law cases, navigating
complex legal frameworks to provide expert counsel to her clients. Her responsibilities
included structuring and reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, and
providing strategic legal advice. As a Legal Consultant, she expanded her expertise by
conducting in-depth legal research, drafting and analyzing contracts, and negotiating legal
terms. These experiences honed her ability to work independently and manage high-pressure
environments with tight deadlines.
Caroline’s dedication to social justice is reflected in her academic achievements. Her master’s
thesis, which focused on environmental defenders in Latin America, allowed her to explore
the intersection of human rights and environmental protection. This deepened her
understanding of the unique challenges faced by advocates of sustainable development in the
region, particularly those defending environmental causes.
In addition to her legal expertise, she is committed to expanding her skill set by pursuing
professional certification in data science, further enhancing her ability to contribute to an
evolving global landscape. She is fluent in English and Portuguese, with intermediate
proficiency in Spanish and Dutch, enabling her to navigate international settings with ease.
Passionate about arts and literature, Caroline believes in the transformative power of
education and culture, especially in a global context where these resources can drive positive
change. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is a strong advocate for using art and
literature as tools to empower and inspire communities around the world.
