Valentine Hallard was born in 1993 in France. Having studied Political and Social Sciences and International Human Rights Law as an undergraduate student, she went on to undertake her first Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology at Leiden University and the second one in Social Sciences, concentration in Anthropology, at the University of Chicago. Through her work, she addresses tensions between “local” and “global” by connecting social changes in Africa to the role of international actors, changing kinship ideologies, and children’s agency. Through several research assistantships, she worked against the oppression of disadvantaged communities and developed her interest in racial equity. Alongside her academic and professional background, she has a strong passion for travel, music, and literature.
