Kyra Nelson
Writer
Kyra Nelson was born in 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States.
An innately curious person, Kyra developed an interest in the humanities when taking Latin during her adolescent years. She then completed her studies at the University of New Hampshire and received her BA degrees in Communication and Italian Studies. Her academic career explored classical antiquity, art, literature, and the complexities of the individual in the collective world.
Beginning her undergraduate studies as a communication student, Kyra concentrated on ancient scholars’ theories of classical rhetoric and oratory. Bringing together her interest in classical antiquity with language, she enrolled in a second major in Italian Studies. In the spring of 2019, she studied abroad at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. By enrolling in immersive language and history courses, Kyra transformed her Italian language studies and amplified her passion for knowledge.
With the philosophy that writing shapes the world and our perception of it, she believes that giving life to history through language can inspire curiosity and understanding in others. In her personal life, she enjoys visiting museums, walks in nature, time with friends, and artisanal crafts.
Her specialties include:
• Italian Medieval & Renaissance
• Italian Palaeography
• Greco-Roman Antiquity
• Classical Rhetorical Theory
