Jorge Cabrera was born in Mexico City in 1997. When he was 14 years old, he discovered his passion for storytelling in modern media, filmmaking and creative writing. Ever since, he’s on a path to eventually reach his destination as a filmmaker and scriptwriter. He attended the National Preparatory High School No. 1 “Gabino Barrera” (ENP 1), and graduated with studies on Arts and Humanities.
In 2016, he attended UNAM’s Faculty of Philosophy and Letters to study English Literature where he mainly took classes on narrative, European literature, language studies, arts and culture, and storytelling.
Meanwhile, he worked as an administrative assistant, translator and copywriter for a law firm, and as an assistant to producer and content creator for two radio stations, one of which belongs to the school. Furthermore, he got a Masters Diploma on Filmmaking and Film Production in 2020 when he attended film school ‘Altrafílmica’.
He graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in English Studies along with a speciality in cultural studies after presenting a thesis work on “Batman: The Killing Joke”.
Currently, he’s developing his skills as an independent filmmaker, and works as a freelance writer and video editor, English teacher and translator. When he’s not working, he enjoys watching movies, reading books, playing video games, cooking, going on walks, and spending time with his family and cats.
