Altea was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1998. She attended the European school of Brussels and had the chance to learn four languages (Spanish, Italian, French and English). She then went to Amsterdam where she did a bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in Social Sciences and a minor in Humanities. After her bachelor she continued her studies in Brussels, graduating as an anthropologist. Altea is currently doing a PhD in sociology and anthropology in order to continue her path in academia.

Altea’s main academic interests focus on the prison system and the prisoner’s experience.
